American Stoneflies: A Photographic Guide to the Plecoptera by Bill Stark, Stan Szczytko, and C. Riley Nelson, 1998

128 pages. Stoneflies are a small order of insects whose immature stage, the nymph, is aquatic. The approximately 600 species
of North American species are placed in some 100 genera and nine families. Outside the entomological community, stoneflies
are perhaps best known to flyfishers. Stoneflies have also long been recognized as indicators of clean water conditions.
This
book presents a photographic overview of the Order Plecoptera. The text accompanying the photographs includes descriptive
and geographic information for each stonefly genus and for many stonefly species throughout North America.
